Apparently, someone recently figured out that Transmission has been speed-capped for ages...
The discussion is ongoing.

It has always been my suspicion that the libtransmission code hasn't been optimized from the ground up since 2.0 because of how long the code had been on the old git that github only recently replaced plus the lack of development on 3.x, and now that torrent backend development has generally slowed down and has shifted to libtorrent-rasterbar (which serves as the backend for several popular clients), the chances of a ground-up optimization for libtransmission has become even less likely these days. I sincerely hope that this eye-opening testing by reardonia sparks enough interest to have libtransmission get the modern update it deserves.
