Because as a VIEWER it's completely functional program, without any restrictions, portable and stealth, extremely small (in comparison with other programs of this kind) - less than 5 MB in only 7 files, and supports 875 file formats!.
The only limitations as a CONVERTER:
So it's more like freeware as a viewer and liteware as a converter.

Even with that, if you just want to import some model in for example LazPaint, losing few polygons is not a big deal in this case.There are a functional differences between the trial and the registered (licensed) version of 3D Object Converter:
1. In case of using the following modules (in trial mode), the exported 3D file will have every 5th polygon or triangle removed.
2. The Tools/Texture converters function is not available in the trial mode.
So it's more like freeware as a viewer and liteware as a converter.
